Story Untold is a Montreal‑based rock‑alternative duo founded by vocalist–songwriter Janick Thibault, whose YouTube channel (2010‑2016) garnered millions of views before evolving into a full‑fledged band. In 2017, drummer Jonathan Landry joined the project after being introduced to Janick by Chuck Comeau (of Simple Plan), who recognized the talent and potential in both musicians. That connection proved pivotal, setting Story Untold on a rapid upward trajectory. Signed to Hopeless Records from 2016 to 2019, the band released their self‑titled debut EP (2016) and their full‑length LP Waves (2018), co‑produced by Paul Marc Rousseau of Silverstein. A wave of touring followed, including back-to-back runs with Simple Plan (2016–2017) and a coveted slot on the final cross‑country Vans Warped Tour (2018). Their international presence grew as they crossed the Atlantic for their first EU/UK club tour and played the Slam Dunk Festival. Over the years, Story Untold has shared the stage with some of rock’s most recognized names, including The Offspring, KennyHoopla, and PVRIS—a testament to their magnetic live performances and growing influence. In March 2020, the band collaborated with Kellin Quinn, frontman of Sleeping with Sirens, adding a new creative layer to their evolving sound. Following their transition to full independence in 2019, Story Untold released two EPs and launched a series of monthly singles, helping push their catalog past 50 million cumulative streams. In 2023, they traveled to Los Angeles to work with acclaimed producer Matt Malpass (Blink‑182, MGK) on new material. Kicking off 2025 with momentum, their single “Black Sheep” surpassed 100,000 streams in just two weeks, following a successful run of sold-out headline shows across Europe. Praised for explosive live shows that fuse razor‑sharp hooks with alt‑rock urgency, Story Untold has been featured in Kerrang!, Alternative Press, Rock Sound, Monstercat, and more. Now in the process of writing their sophomore album—slated for release between 2025 and 2026—the duo continues to grow their global footprint, channeling the same passion and drive that turned viral YouTube covers into one of Canada’s most compelling independent rock acts.
